Chatrandom Reviewed: Random Chat as a Filter Catalogue

What is Chatrandom?

Chatrandom has been online since 2011, making it one of the longest-running providers. According to its own site, more than 20 million people have an account, with around 32,000 online at peak times. Realistically that means: you will find someone practically any time – even in the middle of the night.

The selling point is the filters: pick a country and choose whether you want to talk to women, men or couples – for free, before the chat even starts. On top there is a gay chat section, text chat and apps for iOS and Android.

The honesty check: Chatrandom feels very commercial. Upgrade banners and payment hints follow you everywhere, and behind more than one “free” filter waits a premium funnel. There is AI moderation and report buttons – but they do not always stop the usual random-chat nonsense.

Chatrandom delivers what it promises: many filters, many people, fast connections. The commercial pressure clouds the picture – if you like things plain and calm, alternatives will serve you better.

Key features

Safety and moderation

Chatrandom relies on AI moderation plus block and report tools, and no sign-up is needed for basic chatting. Still: wherever chance rules, unpleasant characters show up here too. Keep usernames and personal info to yourself.
